Marina Bay Sands

10 Bayfront Ave, Singapore 018956

Location: Now a district of Singapore within its own right, there is no actual address for Marina Bay Sands, but it does have its own MRT station.

DESCRIPTION

Marina Bay Sands is one of only two Integrated Resorts in Singapore and was developed by Las Vegas Sands. The entire project was estimated to be an eight billion Singapore dollar investment, one of the world's most challenging and expensive integrated resort construction projects.

CURRENT

Features of the resort include 2,561hotel rooms and suites. A 1,200,000ft2 convention-exhibition centre that has the capacity to accommodate 45,000 people for Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE). Marina Bay Sands also has an 800,000ft2 shopping and retail space (The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands) with over 300 food and beverage outlets and numerous luxury boutiques and stores.

Beside the main structure stands the 200,000 ft2 Artscience museum with it unique exterior design that reassembles a lotus; the roof is retractable thus able to create a waterfall of collected rainwater through the roof when closed in the day and with laser shows when opened at night; I should not forget to mention there are two large theatres that have run a number of famous musical and dance performances such as Riverdance, Wicked and The Lion King.

Numerous "celebrity chef" restaurants can also be found in Marina Bay Sands. The two floating Crystal Pavilions in the Marina Bays located just outside of the main structure host the world's largest Louis Vuitton boutique and internationally renowned nightclub Pangaea. The 6,500ft2 indoor artificial ice skating rink is also an unique experience favourably compared to ice skating rinks with real ice.

One of the world's largest atrium casinos with the capacity to house 500-1,000 tables and 1,400-1,600 slot machines, the Marina Bay Sands Casino is also one of the only two legal casinos in Singapore, where both casinos impose a $100SGD daily entry levy for Singaporean Citizens and Permanent Residents.

Marina Bay Sands probably has the highest international acclaim for its 340m-long SkyPark that comes with rooftop restaurants, nightclubs, observatory deck and one of the world's longest elevated infinity swimming pools (478 ft) with an over the edge view of the entire Marina Bay.

The resort and SkyPark were officially opened on both the 23rd and 24th of June 2010 as a two-day celebration.
